During your short stint in Amb, Sandip, didn't you apprehend some proclaimed goonda on the road single-handed, Amitabh Bacchan style? And did you know that Amb now has a railway connection/ station- its now connected to Delhi by an overnight Shatabdi Express! A very close friend has opened a heritage hotel close by ( 18 kms)in a pretty village called Garli: I'm hoping to visit it sometime.Avay Shuklahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02928879917197239026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8561209253464577539.post-2198811420774834092017-01-24T15:27:38.927+05:302017-01-24T15:27:38.927+05:30with their fair dose of adventure, and had a (surp...with their fair dose of adventure, and had a (surprising for many, including me) surprisingly positive equation with (by then Dy Minister) Mr. Akhrot. I was the first full time SDM of Amb for all of two months on my second SDM assignment. A kind of a punishment posting after annoying a key politician in Rajgarh - and it was very short thanks to senior people like Mr. Kaw who looked out for me. But I enjoyed those two months wSandipMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04721935576457691892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8561209253464577539.post-85641230425153704432017-01-24T10:46:21.221+05:302017-01-24T10:46:21.221+05:30Very true, Subodh. The mills of govt. grind quite a...Very true, Subodh. The mills of govt. grind quite a few people out of their minds. Its quite sad to see these victims of a system that most of the time doesn't care.Avay Shuklahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02928879917197239026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8561209253464577539.post-73569658616288425562017-01-24T07:09:42.827+05:302017-01-24T07:09:42.827+05:30We have all known such characters, haven't we....We have all known such characters, haven't we. Another closely related category is of apparently sane people with a long standing grievance and tons of paperwork to show how they have been ill-treated by the system. They make a very convincing case before newcomers, particularly if they happen to be new to the service as well. I tried hard to resolve the grievance of the first few that I encountered in my earlier postings, before developing an suitably discriminating eye, and the ability to delegate their problems to more experienced subordinates who know how to handle such people.Subodhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04360634974291570405noreply@blogger.com
